This particular pair are in a Bedford cord quality that adds a nice detail to the fabric.  They are pretty versatile in our humble opinion and can be used as a smarter-look trouser...or as a more casual jogger.  
 

Ideal as a straight-leg, but you can also comfortably roll them up if you prefer the shorter leg.
